If you are an individual who has an idea that can solve one of NAB challenge statements and would like to participate in the hackathon as a developer, designer or entrepreneurs please register here.

Challenge 1:

Hackathon Criteria

Each Hackathon team's solution, app or prototype must apply to one of the challenges. All ideas will be judged according to the below criteria, against their chosen challenge:

1. The Problem and Solution

Has the team clearly outlined the problem they are trying to solve? How well have they presented their idea? Does the idea feel achievable, friendly and intuitive?

2. Value Proposition

Does the solution have the ability to make our customers' and/or employees' lives better? Does it save money, create opportunity, connect customers, partners and employees?

3. Scalability

Can the solution scale sustainably to service millions of customers? Can the idea spread into other parts of NAB's business?

FAQs

What is a Hackathon ?

A three day intensive program where teams consisting of four to six participants develop exciting new ideas within a particular problem space.

Who can participate?

Anyone who is up for the challenge! We are looking for innovative thinkers with a disruptive mindset, who are keen to collaborate with new people on game changing ideas.

Is there a minimum age to attend?

You need to be 18 years of age or older to compete in this hackathon

Do I need any particular skills to participate?

No. Participants can come from a variety of skill sets/backgrounds. Individuals with coding, design, innovation and/or business skills are highly encouraged to participate.

Do I have to participate for the entire time?

Yes. All participants are required to be present for the entire duration of the Hackathon. We want people who are committed to both the idea and their team.

How are teams formed?

Teams are formed on the first night of the Hackathon. Once ideas have been pitched, teams are formed around common interests and complimenting skills.

How many people are in each team?

Four to six people per team.

Can I enter as an individual or do I need a team?

Entries are made on an individual basis. You will form your team with people you meet during the Hackathon.

Can I come with a prearranged team?

No. The idea is for participants to collaborate with new people on new ideas. Prearranged teams will be disqualified.

Is there any support throughout the Hackathon?

Yes. Mentors with entrepreneurship and innovation background will be available throughout the Hackathon to push and challenge the teams and their ideas. NAB mentors will be available to assist team on bank related matters - NAB API integration etc.

What happens to the ideas at the end of the day and who owns them?

At the end of the Hackathon, all parties retain ownership over everything they have developed.

However, note that ideas as of their own are not protected. Anyone who has been exposed to an idea during the competition may seek to pursue it further.

How much does it cost?

Its free.

Do I need to come with an idea?

While we encourage participants to come with an idea, it is not compulsory. Participants can come along, listen to other ideas and then join a team who are pursuing an idea that they find interesting.
